Laura Malkasian Huggins

Architecture • Interiors • Graphic design and artwork

Starting off life as a California native, I moved to Seattle in 1997 after completing my degrees in architecture from the University of Oregon and University of Illinois in Chicago. After working for 12 years, I paused my career to have my sweet daughter. Regardless of life’s best-laid plans, I found myself too in love with my little girl and my new role in life to return to the office and decided to stay home with her. It was difficult to fully leave the design world, so I worked to stay involved on a few projects over the years.

Still craving to be creative, I found my way back to designing graphic artwork that I had experimented with in the past. Over time I created a body of work that I began promoting and found myself taking on graphic design work which I found wildly fulfilling. But I never forgot my love for architecture and design.

Whether I’m designing a space or print collateral for a graphic project, I thoroughly love to pour myself into the creative process and details, always striving for a modern and simple aesthetic that stays true to my design ideals.

And to keep life interesting, I’m always looking for new ways to challenge my creative process. Over the last few years I’ve cultivated a love for throwing pottery on the wheel, I’m learning to play the electric guitar, and enjoy experimenting with classes like letterpress and encaustic painting, along with my longtime love of sketching.
